Our specialist audio department can support our clients with all audio reel to reel magnetic tape transfers to HQ professional outputs to include WAV, AIFF, FLAC and MP3. We offer optical solutions to CD if required.

Our offices are open Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm. Clients are asked to contact the office to book an appointment to bring orders in. Alternatively orders can be posted or left in our large post box. Turnaround times are between 7 -15 working days. Urgent orders will incur an additional 50% charge.

Due to the nature of our business, if we require additional time to complete orders, we will advise on our initial estimate

 


AMPEX brand open reel audio tapes (i.e. Ampex 456) require immediate attention due to the sub-standard adhesive used in the manufacturing process. These tapes are at particular risk of completely deteriorating to the point of no return. Don't wait on digitising these reel to-reel tapes! We can record analog sources at 44.1, 48, 96, 192 kHz, at 24 or 16 bits.

Open reel tape recorders for professional use generally use large metal reels (mostly 10½-inches) with large centre holes, which eventually became standardised and known as NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) reels, as opposed to domestic open reel tape recorders which generally used smaller plastic reels and smaller ‘cine spindle’ hubs. Professional tape generally runs at 15 or 30-inches per second.

Digital Audio Tape (DAT or R-DAT) is a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony and introduced in 1987. Like most formats of videocassette, a DAT cassette may only be recorded and played in one direction, unlike an analog compact audio cassette.
