HOW TO DIGITISE GLASS PLATE NEGATIVES IN OXFORDSHIRE UK
Archiving and Scanning Digitisation at Oxford Duplication Centre

SPECIALIST GLASS NEGATIVE PLATE SCANNING
Glass plates were far superior to film for research-quality imaging because they were extremely stable and less likely to bend or distort, especially in large-format frames for wide-field imaging. Early plates used the wet collodion process. The wet plate process was replaced late in the 19th century by gelatin dry plates. Glass plate photographic material largely faded from the consumer market in the early years of the 20th century, as more convenient and less fragile films were increasingly adopted.
All our machinery offer a high Dmax measurement of optical density which ensures the thinner parts of film (shadows in negatives or highlights in positives) reproduces detail in the deepest of shadows.
Working with museums, historical archival companies, corporations and private clients, we can cater for small units to bulk large orders in the many 1000's.
Professional Photographic Film Scanning Solutions Corporate, Heritage and Consumer Photographic Film Scanning Solutions All plates, medium format and sheet film/X-ray are scanned to their respective dpi (900-2400dpi) unless clients have a preferred requirement.
