Our specialist workflows can be configured around National Archives-aligned digitisation principles, with careful handling, preparation and high-resolution capture designed to protect the original while producing consistent, preservation-quality digital masters. 

Journals, bound volumes, minutes, periodicals and historic books can be scanned using non-destructive techniques where appropriate, with page geometry, colour, contrast and fine detail carefully controlled throughout the capture process. 

 For preservation masters, we can capture pages at an agreed resolution and in 24-bit colour where appropriate, producing high-quality TIFF or other agreed preservation formats using lossless compression. Each image is subject to quality control for focus, completeness, page order, cropping, colour and legibility, with consistent file naming and associated metadata applied as required.

Preservation & Online-Ready Files

Digital outputs include Archival TIFF/RAW, JPEG, PDF (PDF/A), searchable PDF OCR, multipage PDF, Word and eBooks. Delivery can be provided by hard drive, electronic download or secure FTP.
