About MPEG IMX Broadcast

MPEG IMX was developed for professional broadcast workflows and is found in institutional, broadcaster and production archives. Migration protects recordings from tape ageing and future hardware scarcity.

Format identification matters. If you are unsure which version or standard you have, send us photographs of the tape, cassette, reel and labels and our team can help identify it before transfer.

Our Transfer Workflow

1. Assessment

We inspect the physical condition, reel or cassette, labels and recording characteristics before playback.

2. Specialist Playback

The appropriate professional deck or playback chain is selected for the format and recording standard.

3. Signal Capture

The video signal is captured through a controlled professional workflow, with appropriate correction and monitoring where required.

4. Preservation & Access

Files can be supplied for preservation, editing and everyday access. Final specifications are agreed with the client for the collection.

Preserving Historic Video Collections

Magnetic and digital video media are dependent not only on the physical condition of the tape but also on the continued availability of suitable playback equipment. Digitising valuable recordings while specialist machines and engineering knowledge remain available can significantly reduce future access risks.

For larger collections we can discuss workflow, file naming, metadata, delivery media and preservation requirements before work begins.

Have a MPEG IMX Broadcast collection?
