Charcoal & Pastel Artwork Scanning

Charcoal and pastel works can be delicate and surface-sensitive, requiring careful non-contact handling and suitable lighting.

Loose or friable media can be disturbed by inappropriate contact or handling. Camera capture can provide a non-contact route where the work is unsuitable for a scanner bed.

Standards context: The choice of imaging method should be based on the physical characteristics of the original and the desired digital representation. citeturn0search5

Charcoal and pastel digitisation

The capture method should be selected around the original object, its condition and the purpose of the digital master. Suitable material may be captured with a WideTEK 36 ART, reprographic camera system or flatbed solution, while delicate, oversized or surface-sensitive work may require a non-contact approach.
