Engraving Scanning

Engravings contain fine incised lines and tonal structures that need high-quality image capture.

Fine engraving detail can be sensitive to resolution, focus and tonal reproduction. The digital master should retain the detail needed for research and comparison.

Standards context: FADGI's still-image guidance is designed around measurable image quality and defined digitisation objectives. citeturn0search0turn0search11

Engraving digitisation

The capture method should be selected around the original object, its condition and the purpose of the digital master. Suitable material may be captured with a WideTEK 36 ART, reprographic camera system or flatbed solution, while delicate, oversized or surface-sensitive work may require a non-contact approach.
