What Is Scrapbook Scanning?

Scrapbooks may contain photographs, newspaper cuttings, letters, tickets and other attached objects, making them challenging bound materials.

Scrapbooks are composite objects. Mounted items can lift or tear and the binding can be vulnerable, so non-destructive overhead capture is often preferable.

Professional guidance: The Library of Congress notes that scrapbook pages and mounted items can be brittle or detach and should be supported without force.

Scrapbook digitisation

The right method depends on the physical construction, condition and purpose of the book. Non-destructive capture keeps significant originals intact; destructive capture can be appropriate for approved modern production work.
