TAPE BAKING STICKY SHED SYNDROME

Some tapes may require baking to remove moisture caused by Sticky Shed Syndrome.  Typically associated with U-matic tapes due to a breakdown in the glue (binder) that holds the oxide atoms onto the tape. Signs include squealing as the tape passes through the head. Without baking this will transmit through the ouput and will damage the tape and/or players.
